Donald Trump expressed his suspicions that the elections in Brazil, with the outcome in favor of President Lula da Silva, “seem rigged.”
When asked by a reporter about the defeat of Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, who strongly supported Trump, the U.S. president said that the election “seemed terrible to me. Honestly, it looked like yet another rigged election.”
He added that “I didn’t take a position [i.e., in favor of one or the other], but it looked terrible.”
He also said that “I don’t govern Brazil, but the U.S. I like Lula, I get along with him very well, but the extension that was granted was very strange.”
“You know, elections have to be indisputable. It seemed very bad to me. I didn’t take a position. I didn’t support anyone or anything, but I followed the elections. It seemed so corrupt and so awful,” he added.
