Barcelona president Joan Laporta said he is certain that Lamine Yamal will win the Ballon d’Or in the future, but also that he deserved it this year.
“I’m convinced that at some point he’ll win the Ballon d’Or. I don’t know when, but he deserves it. In my opinion, he deserved to win the Ballon d’Or, but the voters decided otherwise. It was a sporting decision. Let this serve as motivation for him personally—I’m sure it will. All of his teammates will help him get over this disappointment quickly,” he said.
Laporta also addressed Barcelona’s loss to Real Madrid. “We’ll accept it in the spirit of sportsmanship and let it serve as motivation to move forward. Our expectations for this season remain unchanged. We started the season very well and will continue that way; I’m sure of it.”
In this context, he also expressed his support for Hansi Flick, emphasizing that the coach has already analyzed what happened. “He’ll help us learn from our mistakes and improve where necessary. I remain proud of my players and our coach; Barça fans can rest assured.”
