AEK failed to come away with the three points from its match against Krasava ENY, settling for a 2-2 draw, but retained first place in the Cyprus League by Stoiximan standings after the completion of Matchday 8.
Rubén Segues’s team showed two different sides during the game, paying the price in the first half for several individual mistakes, which the home team exploited to the fullest, taking a two-goal lead. In the second half, however, the “yellow-and-greens” significantly stepped up their performance. The Spanish coach’s substitutions from the bench breathed new life into the team, which took control of the field, increased its pressure, and managed to tie the game. In fact, AEK had opportunities to complete the big comeback, but failed to score a third goal.
Despite dropping points, the Larnaca-based team remains in first place with 17 points and must put this result behind them, turning its attention to the next matchday. There, they will host Karmiotissa at the “AEK Arena” on Friday (Nov. 6, 7:00 p.m.), with the sole goal of returning to winning ways and maintaining its position at the top of the standings.
