The details “behind” the brutal murder of 61-year-old Olga Vasilieva in Limassol—who was found dead in a well—are shocking, in Saittas.

The body of the unfortunate 61-year-old was located and recovered from the well on Saturday night, following a confession and tip from the 43-year-old suspect, who is currently in custody. The 43-year-old suspect—who, according to witness accounts, appears to have been in a romantic relationship with the 61-year-old — confessed to investigators that he killed Olga Vasileva and then threw her body into a well. He then led investigators to the specific location, which was placed under police guard. After a search operation was launched, with the assistance of the Fire Department, the 61-year-old’s body was located and recovered, while Medical Examiner Nicolas Charalambous also rushed to the scene to perform an autopsy.

According to reports, the field belonged to the victim herself; however, the 43-year-old man appeared to be very familiar with the area. At first glance, it appears that the unfortunate Olga sustained head injuries caused by a blunt object. In fact, it appears that all of the injuries sustained by the 61-year-old victim are to the head, however, further details are expected after the legally mandated autopsy on her body, which will be performed at 11 a.m. by medical examiner Nikolaos Charalambous.

Authorities, however, believe that the brutal murder was most likely committed at the 43-year-old’s home, with the suspect subsequently disposing of the victim’s body in the well located on the 61-year-old woman’s property. Examinations by the Criminal Investigation Department uncovered some evidence that will be sent for forensic analysis.

According to reports, the perpetrator and the victim appear to have met five months ago at a café. The 43-year-old was re-arrested shortly after midnight pursuant to an arrest warrant for the alleged crime of premeditated murder, and is expected to appear again before the Limassol District Court this morning for a detention hearing.

It is recalled that the thriller surrounding the disappearance of the woman, who was a permanent resident of Limassol, has been unfolding since October 28. Neighbors had complained to a friend of hers about the persistent barking of her dog over the past week, a dog she never left alone. When her lawyer went to her home accompanied by the police, they found her pet malnourished. She immediately filed an official report regarding her disappearance, and the authorities issued a missing person alert that same day, October 28. The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department began unraveling the case. Her partner, with whom she had been in a relationship for the past five months, came under suspicion.

Investigators obtained testimony stating that the 43-year-old man from Syros had persistently demanded a large sum of money—70,000 euros—from Vasileva, for an alleged car accident in which he was involved. According to the same testimony, the 61-year-old woman, wanting to help him, offered to return a necklace he had given her as a gift, worth 10,000 euros.

On Friday, the suspect was arrested at Larnaca Airport shortly before departing for Beirut. According to the police, he had purchased the ticket just a few hours after the woman was reported missing. The 43-year-old claimed that on October 21, he had met with the 61-year-old. He had parked her car at a specific location, and they then drove in his car to his home in Parekklisia, where they slept together. As Vasileva stated during his interrogation, she had subsequently told him that she was going to visit a friend in the occupied territories, and he dropped her off at the spot where she had parked her car. He stated that he had demanded 20,000 euros from the 61-year-old woman in connection with the car accident with the intent of financially exploiting her, and that the necklace he gave her was fake. He also told investigators that he was planning to travel abroad due to the illness of a close relative and that he had no connection to Vasileva’s disappearance.

According to the police, the 43-year-old’s claims were refuted, as testimony was obtained that a woman’s scream was heard coming from his home, and he was seen placing something in the luggage area a short time after he was seen entering the house with a woman. In addition, women’s clothing and underwear were found in the luggage the 43-year-old was carrying upon his arrival at the airport, and these items were seized as evidence.
