An arson attack took place in the early hours of Sunday (Nov. 1) at the political office of the Greek Minister of Migration and Asylum, Thanos Plevris, in Kolonaki, where unknown individuals placed an improvised device consisting of two gas canisters at the building’s entrance.
The attack took place at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Alexandrou Soutsou Street, causing property damage to the entrance of the apartment building where the minister’s office is located.
The explosion damaged the building’s main door and shattered windows, with shards of glass scattering across the surrounding area.

Police forces arrived at the scene, as well as a team from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, to examine the remains of the improvised explosive device and gather evidence regarding the attack.
At the same time, warning signs were posted at the entrance to the apartment building to alert anyone approaching the building to the risk of injury from broken glass.
Thanos Plevris’s Response
In a post following the attack, Thanos Plevris launched an attack against the perpetrators, whom he described as “supporters of illegal immigrants,” linking the incident to the immigration issue.
The minister further argued that the way the devices were placed demonstrated murderous intent, expressing the view that the act could have endangered human lives.
“I don’t take those scumbags seriously. I scare them, and they don’t scare me,” he stated in his post, sending the message that he will not be intimidated by the attack.
