They've pulled ahead to +44 and are just a breath away from their eighth championship

Marc Márquez was the big winner at the Malaysian MotoGP, taking another step closer to clinching the title, while Aprilia failed to make it onto the podium.

The Spanish rider for the Ducati factory team took the lead at the start and built a comfortable lead in the first half of the race, with his younger brother, Alex Márquez, acting as his “guard,” and securing his seventh victory of 2026.

With this result, the seven-time world champion now leads the injured Jorge Martín by 44 points and Marco Bezzecchi by 72, which means he could clinch the 2026 title as early as the next Grand Prix, in Qatar, on November 8.

Alex Márquez, who is still struggling with a shoulder injury he sustained at the Catalan Grand Prix, had to settle for third place, though he managed to hold off Aprilia’s Bezeki throughout the race.

Pedro Acosta finished second—marking his second podium finish. Ai Ogura ultimately edged out his teammate to take fourth place, while Bezeki ran off the track on the final lap and dropped to sixth place, behind the Tech3 KTM ridden by Enea Bastianini.

Further back, factory Honda rider Luca Marini capitalized on his strong start from 13th on the grid to finish seventh, beating the VR46 team’s Ducati ridden by Fabio di Giannadonio. Rounding out the top ten were Brad Binder (KTM) and Franco Morbidelli. They were followed by the two Yamaha riders, Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins, in 11th and 12th place, while the factory Ducati rider, Francesco Bagnaia, finished 13th, having at one point during the race fallen out of the points-scoring positions.
