WSJ: The U.S. is pushing for the resumption of natural gas exports from Russia to Europe via Ukraine

The U.S. plan to circumvent european sanctions
ALPHANEWSLIVE

The U.S. government has been exerting pressure since September to resume natural gas exports from Russia to Europe as soon as possible via pipelines passing through Ukraine, as part of talks aimed at securing a ceasefire regarding the energy facilities of the two warring nations, the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday, Sunday, citing sources within U.S. President Donald Trump’s team, as well as in the governments of EU member states and Ukraine.

According to the newspaper’s report, the idea, proposed by U.S. envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Whitecoff, calls for sales to be conducted through a U.S. intermediary company, in order to circumvent existing European sanctions, while simultaneously creating a potentially very lucrative opportunity for American investors.

The Reuters news agency notes that it was unable to immediately verify the Journal’s information through independent sources.
