Iran warns the United States that a possible resumption of hostilities risks escalating into a longer-lasting conflict than the previous one, in response to renewed threats from Donald Trump.
“A new war could last longer than the previous one, and the U.S. president would then be unable to determine the timing or terms” of a ceasefire, warned Iranian Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia in remarks broadcast on state television.
Meanwhile, from Manama, a high-ranking official from the United Arab Emirates stated that ongoing diplomatic efforts would help prevent a resumption of hostilities betweenand Washington, adding, however, that his country “is prepared for the worst.”
“We hope for a diplomatic success, because it is not in the region’s interest (…) to experience a new cycle of conflict. But as we have already shown in the past, we are prepared to face the worst,” said Anwar Gargas, diplomatic advisor to the President of the Emirates, during a conference in Manama.
