As part of the efforts being made by the DAOE-YKAN-YPE to identify and arrest individuals who are systematically involved in drug trafficking and distribution, a 32-year-old resident of the Larnaca district was arrested yesterday afternoon.
Specifically, around 5:00 p.m. yesterday, members of DAOE-YKAN-YPEE pulled over a car driven by the 32-year-old in a rural area of the Larnaca district for inspection.
During the subsequent search, two cylindrical packages were found in his possession, containing white cocaine powder with a total gross weight of 100 grams. In addition, 16 firecrackers were found inside the car.
A search was then conducted in an open area where the 32-year-old had previously been spotted by members of the DAOE-YKAN-YPE. During the search, a plastic container was found, inside which were two nylon packages containing cocaine with a total gross weight of 100 grams.
During a search of the 32-year-old’s residence, a glass container was found containing approximately eight grams of white cocaine powder, four packages containing approximately six grams of cannabis, a nylon bag containing a small amount of cannabis resin, a precision scale, a grinder with traces of cannabis, and the sum of €21,100, which is believed to have been derived from illegal activities.
Subsequently, a search was conducted in an open area near his home, where the 32-year-old had also been seen earlier. During the search, a plastic container was found on the ground, carefully hidden, a plastic container, inside which were 11 nylon packages containing white cocaine powder, with a total gross weight of 826 grams.
All of the above items, as well as four cell phones, were seized as evidence for further examination.
The 32-year-old was taken into custody and is expected to appear before the Larnaca District Court this morning for a hearing on the issuance of a detention order.
The Larnaca Drug Enforcement and Anti-Narcotics Unit (DAOE-YKAN) is continuing its investigation.
