A barrage of bomb threats has been reported since yesterday, leading to flight diversions and forced landings at major airports, both within and outside Europe.

In the first instance, on Monday afternoon, a Wizz Air flight from London to Sofia changed course and headed to Budapest Airport following a bomb threat, Hungarian Defense Minister Rusin-Senti stated in a Facebook post.

A Hungarian Gripen fighter jet took off to escort the passenger plane, which landed in Budapest.

The Wizz Air flight was en route from London to Sofia when it received a bomb threat, causing the aircraft to divert from its original course.

In the second case, an alert was issued on Tuesday morning in Poland, following a report of a possible explosive device on an aircraft that had departed from London’s Heathrow Airport.

According to the relevant authorities, the plane landed safely, while security services conducted checks to determine whether the reports of an explosive device were true.

So far, the presence of a bomb has not been confirmed, and no announcement has been made regarding when the airport will resume operations.
