Maria Angela Olgin conveyed a message from Ankara that holds out prospects for positive developments to the President of the Republic, Nicos Christodoulides, following her meeting with the so-called Turkish “ambassador” in the occupied territories.
Upon leaving the Presidential Palace and when asked by reporters whether the message from the Turkish “ambassador” offers hope for progress, President Christodoulides stated that “I believe it creates prospects for positive developments. I will be able to update you with greater certainty tomorrow, once I have been briefed myself.”
Meanwhile, commenting on his meeting with Ms. Olgin, the President noted that it was a very brief meeting: “It was a very specific briefing, and she received a specific response from our side.”

“Let’s give diplomacy a few more hours,” he added, noting that, as far as he understands, the UN Secretary-General is being kept fully informed of all these meetings that Olgin is having.
“And in the coming hours, we will be able to say with certainty that there are positive developments.”
He also noted that “I am pleased that our continuous submission of proposals and recommendations is not only recognized but also demonstrates our initiative,” he added that the main objective and goal is for there to be news that paves the way for positive developments.
