The team’s press officer, Christos Michailoudis, spoke to “SPOR FM 95.0” about the team’s recent performance and the difficult road ahead.
The main points of what he said:
ΣΧΕΤΙΚΑ ΑΡΘΡΑ
On the team’s turnaround: “There’s been a 180-degree turnaround since Mr. Romo joined the team; in the last three games, we’ve had one win and two draws, so far we’re doing very well, and it’s encouraging to see us picking up points every matchday, but we still have ground to make up.”
The poor start is what’s making things difficult for the team: “It’s very important to start by picking up points; we began with two losses against teams that are competing with us and whose head-to-head results will matter, such as Omonia May 29 and Omonia Aradippou. The points we lost at the start were very important, but that’s the way soccer is—it takes effort. Even the so-called “big teams” struggle against teams fighting to stay in the league, and we’re expecting a tough season.”
On the goals the team has conceded: “There are many things that have improved since the coach arrived; we’re getting better game by game. We were without De Lucas and Cepak, and we had Katelaris’s injury; and there are some absences on defense, but the team has improved overall—we’ve found the right formula, and little by little the team is getting better, and we have some very tough games coming up.”
On AEL: “A very difficult game at the “Alphamega Stadium”—Bahasa will be out due to suspension; he’s the player who’s been stealing the show in recent matches. Kamus is also out of the plans, and Pardo, Kintigia, and Brombey—who are all dealing with muscle issues—are also highly doubtful, while Boatek returns after serving his suspension with AEK.”
