Kylian Mbappé added yet another impressive performance to his record, scoring in Real Madrid’s dramatic 3-2 victory over AEK in Nea Filadelfia during Matchday 4 of the Champions League group stage.

The French forward has now scored 74 goals in 102 appearances in Europe’s premier club competition, while also providing 26 assists. With this, he has reached a total of 100 goal contributions in the Champions League.

It took him 102 games to reach this milestone, tying Robert Lewandowski for the second-fastest achievement in the competition’s history. Only Lionel Messi had reached 100 goal contributions faster, in his 101st appearance.

At the same time, Mbappé found the back of the net for the sixth consecutive Champions League match, having scored twice against Bayern, as well as against Inter, Roma, Leipzig, and AEK.

In doing so, he matched his personal best streak, which he had set from November 2021 through September 2022.

Among Real Madrid players, only Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved a longer streak in the competition, scoring in 11 consecutive games from the 2017 final through April 2018.

Real Madrid, however, had to endure a nail-biter until the very end at the Allwyn Arena. AEK took the lead twice and came within a hair’s breadth of a huge upset, but Valverde scored in the 92nd minute to give the “Queen” a 3-2 victory.

It’s worth noting that until February 2025, Real Madrid had never managed to win an away Champions League match with a winning goal in the 90th minute or later. Since then, they have done so four times: twice against Manchester City, once against Roma, and now against AEK.
