Bean Bar is celebrating five years in the Cypriot market, having achieved steady growth in the specialty coffee sector. Since 2021, when H.A. Papaellinas Commercial Ltd. created a new, proprietary coffee concept from scratch, Bean Bar has evolved into a recognizable chain, expanding its presence in Cyprus and gradually enriching the options it offers to consumers. Focusing on quality coffee, modern flavor offerings, and the positive, optimistic philosophy that characterizes the brand, Bean Bar has established itself in a highly competitive market.
A key part of this journey has been the development of a network that now comprises 24 retail locations, covering different areas and meeting diverse customer needs. Bean Bar’s growth model combines four standalone stores with 20 smaller pop-up locations, which operate within supermarkets, shopping malls, universities, and other commercial spaces.
Specifically, Bean Bar’s four standalone stores are located on Makarios Avenue in downtown Nicosia, on Kolonaki Avenue, at the Old Port of Limassol, and in Zakaki. The chain’s pop-up locations operate within the Alfamega Hypermarkets in Engomi, Acropolis, Deftera, Latsia, Astromeritis, Skarinou, Kiti, Metropolis Mall, Alpha Mega Larnaca Central, Kamares, Polemidia, Kapsalos, Linopetra, Trimiklini, Cap St. Georges, and Mandria in Paphos. In addition, Bean Bar locations are open at the University of Nicosia, the University of Beirut in Paphos, Beauty Line on Independence Avenue in Limassol, and the Mall of Cyprus.
Real Coffee, Real Vibes
Specialty coffee remains a core element of Bean Bar’s identity, featuring select beans from countries in Latin and Central America. The chain offers four different coffee options, each associated with specific flavor profiles and a distinct mood.
The single-origin coffee from Nicaragua, with notes of almond and green apple, is called “Calm,” evoking a sense of tranquility. “Wild,” from Costa Rica, is characterized by sweetness, floral aromas, and notes of cinnamon, while “Alive,” from Brazil, stands out for its notes of milk chocolate and nuts. Rounding out the line is “Cool,” a blend from Latin America featuring an aromatic combination of dark chocolate and peach. Through this approach, Bean Bar connects different coffee varieties with each consumer’s preferences and mood.
Over the past five years, the chain has also significantly expanded its product range. In addition to classic options like espresso, cappuccino, freddo, and latte, the menu includes teas, fresh juices, superfoods, and protein shakes, as well as snacks, sandwiches, protein bars, and energy balls. Recently, Bean Bar revamped its “fresh to go” menu, adding new sandwich options prepared daily, with an emphasis on the freshness of the ingredients and unique flavor combinations.
At the same time, the chain is leveraging delivery services and digital ordering capabilities to adapt to modern consumer habits. Customers can order Bean Bar products through the Foody, Bolt Food, and Wolt platforms, while the Bean Bar app allows them to order for takeout or in-store pickup at the location of their choice.
Five Years of Growth Focused on the Consumer
Beyond expanding its network and menu, Bean Bar’s journey is also tied to the development of a recognizable identity in the coffee market. The store design, with its distinctive colors and contemporary aesthetic, combined with the feel-good atmosphere that characterizes Bean Bar, creates a unique identity, with an emphasis on both product quality and the overall consumer experience.
The chain’s presence in various settings of everyday life, from shopping centers to universities, also reflects its strategy of reaching different consumer groups while maintaining consistent standards of quality and service across the entire network.
In a statement marking the company’s fifth anniversary, Bean Bar’s Marketing Manager, Antonia Koumetou, said: “Reaching our five-year milestone is a significant moment for Bean Bar and an opportunity to reflect on our journey so far. We launched in 2021 with the goal of creating a new concept in the specialty coffee sector, emphasizing product quality and the overall consumer experience. The expansion of our network to 24 retail locations confirms the momentum the brand has gained in the Cypriot market. For us, however, growth is not an end in itself. Our priority remains maintaining quality, developing our products, and responding to the needs of our customers. With this in mind, we continue to plan the next steps for Bean Bar.”
Five years after opening, Bean Bar continues to grow, investing in expanding its presence and improving its products and services.
