Members of the DAOE–YPEΕ proceeded yesterday to arrest a 30-year-old man as part of a coordinated operation, following the collection and evaluation of evidence.
Specifically, at around 5:20 p.m. yesterday, members of the DAOE pulled over a vehicle driven by the 30-year-old for inspection in the Larnaca district.

During the subsequent search, a large quantity of contraband tobacco products and manufactured tobacco was found inside the vehicle.
The 30-year-old was arrested on the spot and subsequently taken, along with his vehicle, to the Pera Choriou Nisou Police Station for further investigation.
Members of the Customs Department were also summoned to the station. During the subsequent inventory, it was determined that the shipment consisted of 200 cartons of cigarettes (2,000 packs of 20 cigarettes each) and 54 kilograms of tobacco for hand-rolled cigarettes (1,080 packets of 50 grams each). None of the above products bore the labeling required by law or the necessary traceability codes.
The 30-year-old was taken into custody, and the Customs Department has taken over the investigation of the case.
