At least four people were killed and more than 80 were injured after the derailment of passenger train cars in the Giza governorate in Egypt, the Ministry of Health announced on Sunday.
The Egyptian National Railways reported that a train traveling from Giza to Fayoum collided with the rear of a second train traveling from Cairo to Aswan.
The collision occurred between the stations of Kafr Ammar and Al-Raqqa, according to the relevant railway authority.
Several cars derailed during the collision, injuring dozens of passengers, who were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Railway accidents are not uncommon in Egypt. The main causes are human error at level crossings and signal malfunctions.
