A 54-year-old woman is being treated at Paphos General Hospital after being injured in a traffic accident that occurred last night in Paphos. A 69-year-old man was also slightly injured in the same accident.
Specifically, around 8 p.m. yesterday on Chryssoneras Avenue in Kissonerga, as the 54-year-old woman and the 69-year-old man were attempting to cross the street on foot—under circumstances that are under investigation—they were struck by a car driven by a 33-year-old woman.
The two pedestrians were transported to Paphos General Hospital, where it was determined that the 54-year-old woman had suffered multiple fractures and a traumatic brain injury and was admitted to the intensive care unit. The 69-year-old man received first aid and was discharged.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the collision. However, around midnight, she reported to the local police station, where, after being questioned, she was formally charged in writing and summoned to appear in court.
The causes of the altercation are being investigated by the Pegeia Police Station.
