“I was born and raised with the Limassol Carnival in my heart, eagerly awaiting—even as a small child—the days when the city fills with color, music, and life. For me, it’s not just a celebration—it’s a part of who I am. I live and breathe for this tradition, having actively participated for years in organizing events and parades alongside my carnival family,” said Spyros Matsoukas in response to the City Council’s decision.
“Throughout the year, our home turns into a huge costume room, where friends and acquaintances pick up their costumes, while I also try to pass on to my children a love for Carnival and its unique culture. I feel especially proud to represent my city and my fellow citizens, and to serve Carnival in the role of King, with the same love, the same passion, and the same enthusiasm. “I can’t wait for us all to celebrate Carnival together!” he added.
