Moscow has not yet decided whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to attend the G20 summit to be held in December in Miami, the Russian news agency Interfax reported, citing Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. “We don’t know yet if we’ll go to Miami,” Peskov said.
Earlier today, Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov stated that the possibility of Putin’s participation in the summit “has not yet been discussed” in Moscow.
In April, the Kremlin had announced that Putin would travel to the G20 summit, after U.S. President Trump had hinted that his presence would be very useful.
Commenting on statements by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that he might travel to Miami if Putin were to attend the summit and that he might seek a meeting with him, Peskov reiterated Moscow’s consistent position that if the Ukrainian president wishes to meet with his Russian counterpart, he must come to Moscow.
Meanwhile, the war rages on, with Russian airstrikes targeting ten Ukrainian regions, killing three people and wounding dozens. Residential buildings and infrastructure across the country have been destroyed, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday.
Two people were killed in the city of Zaporizhzhia in southeastern Ukraine, while another civilian was killed in Zelenskyy’s hometown, Kryvyi Rih, Zelenskyy reported on the Telegram messaging platform. People were injured in Odesa, Kryvyi Rih, and Kyiv, according to him.
