The Ministry of Justice and Public Order’s policy for 2027 will be accompanied by specific projects, timelines, implementation officers, and measurable results, the Ministry states in a press release, responding to a DISY statement regarding its budget.
“Criticism is legitimate, and any well-documented proposal is welcome. However, the 2027 Budget must be evaluated in conjunction with the work already underway and not in isolation,” the statement notes.
According to the Ministry of Justice, in less than a year, measures have been launched to address issues that had remained unresolved for years. These include the design of new prisons, immediate solutions to overcrowding, the creation of a separate detention facility for minors, the reorganization of the police, strengthening the fight against organized crime, promoting a bill to establish a Coast Guard, and developing critical technological and operational infrastructure.
“Specifically regarding the new prisons, a project costing hundreds of millions is not fully included in the budget until the necessary studies and consultations are completed, the site is finalized, and the financing model is determined. The required appropriations are allocated gradually, in accordance with the needs of each implementation phase. “This does not mean a lack of planning, but rather responsible fiscal management,” the announcement states.
The Ministry emphasizes that effectiveness must be measured. “That is why our policy for 2027 will be accompanied by specific projects, timelines, implementation leads, and measurable results,” it states, adding that society “will not judge us by the headlines of our announcements, but by the work we deliver.”
