A “double” for… the trophy from the “Blaugrana”!
Barcelona celebrated a victory of immense importance in the standings, coming from behind to win at the “Metropolitano,” defeating Atlético Madrid 2-1 in the 12th round of La Liga. The Catalans earned three crucial points at one of the league’s toughest away venues and remained at the top of the standings.
The home team got off to a better start and took the lead in the 10th minute, with Giuliano Simeone scoring off an assist from Julián Álvarez. Barcelona’s response came at the end of the first half, with Fermín López equalizing in the 45th minute with a nice shot from inside the box.
The same player became the star of the match, as in the 66th minute he found the back of the net again with a beautiful finish, this time following an impressive through ball from Lamine Yamal, completing the comeback for the “Blaugrana.”
With this result, Hansy Flick’s team reached 33 points and remained in sole first place, now three points ahead of second-place Real Madrid, while Atlético remained on 28 points and in third place.
