Rennes suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat at the hands of Nice, just a few days before their match against Olympiacos in the fourth matchday of the Europa League group stage.

The home team opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a penalty kick by Elie Wai, but Rennes responded immediately, tying the game in the 15th minute with a header by Sebastian Simianski. Nice retook the lead in the 35th minute, with Vai converting his second penalty kick, while in stoppage time of the first half, Jonathan Kloss, following a backheel assist from Vai, made it 3-1.

Nice maintained control in the second half as well, ultimately securing a decisive 5-2 victory. As a result, Olympiacos’ opponent heads into the European match with its morale dented, as well as several defensive issues to address.

In the other match of the night, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Le Havre 5-1 on the road. The hosts took the lead in the 18th minute on a goal by Josh Maya, but the Parisians responded with goals from Mika Goetz (26') and Achraf Hakimi (28').

In the second half, Hakimi scored twice more, in the 54th and 69th minutes, completing his hat trick, while in between, Seni Mayulu had extended the lead to 1-4. With this victory, Paris maintained its first-place position in Ligue 1.
