The soccer world is dressing up and mentally traveling to London, where this year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place.
At the “France Football” event, the world’s top soccer player for the 2026–2027 season will be honored, with Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé, and Harry Kane considered the top favorites.
However, just a few hours before the awards ceremony was set to begin, the official Ballon d’Or account caused quite a stir with posts that created confusion regarding the winner.
Specifically, three separate posts were uploaded to the website, each announcing a different winner: one for Kylian Mbappé, one for Lamine Yamal, and one for Harry Kane. The mix-up and the terrible timing on the website quickly went viral on social media before the organizers finally took down the posts in question.
The “Daily Mail,” for its part, notes that no one knows how such a mistake occurred, although the organizers will conduct internal investigations to determine exactly what happened.
