Panathinaikos vs. Armani: To get the job done against the Italians in Sloukas’s return

They're aiming for their seventh victory in the tournament
ALPHANEWSLIVE

With home-court advantage on its side, Panathinaikos hosts Armani Milan at the Telekom Center Athens tonight (Oct. 27, 9:15 p.m.) for the 8th round of the EuroLeague. The “Greens” are looking for their seventh European win before traveling to Istanbul for the second leg of their grueling week against Anadolu Efes.

Zeljko Obradović’s team is coming off a 78-64 home win over Karditsa on Saturday (10/24), bringing their record to 4-0 in the Stoiximan GBL. The final margin does not reflect the challenges they faced, as they had to step up their performance in the final quarter to secure the win. The standout performer was Gerson Yabusele, with 22 points and 8 rebounds.

In the EuroLeague, Panathinaikos returned to winning ways with an 85-79 victory over Baskonia, improving its record to 6-1. Panathinaikos’ leading scorer and top performer was Matias Lezour, who finished the game with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and a performance rating of 28. Hayes-Davis made a significant contribution with 18 points.

On the court, the news is good for “Zoc,” as Lefteris Mantzoukas has returned to practice, with the only player absent being the injured Nikos Rogavopoulos. Kostas Sloukas is also available and is preparing for his first EuroLeague appearance of the season.

On the other hand, Pepe Poeta’s Armani team sits at 1-6, having lost 81-89 at home to Barcelona in their previous EuroLeague game. This was followed on Sunday by a 94-98 overtime loss to Virtus Bologna in the Italian league, in a game in which the Milanese squandered a 19-point lead and fell to a 3-2 record.
