After announcing the signing of Montero, Olympiacos co-president Panagiotis Angelopoulos spoke about the team’s new star and the question he asked about Bartzokas. So one of the first questions Montero asked was whether Giorgos Bartzokas would be the team’s coach.

“I don’t know if there’s another player in Europe who has such an impact at this age. For his age, Montero has an incredible passion for the game; he really knows the game. Of course, we weren’t the only ones in all of Europe who wanted to sign him. One of the first questions he asked was whether Bartzokas would be our coach. We told him he would be—all of this before we became European champions,” said one of Olympiacos’ co-presidents.
