The CFF’s press officer, Konstantinos Siamboullis, made statements to “SPOR FM 95.0.”
He discussed the changes announced regarding the operation of the Federation’s judicial bodies and addressed whether Aristotelis Vryonidis (Sports Judge) and Stelios Nikolaou (Disciplinary Prosecutor) would remain in their positions.
Furthermore, regarding the league draw, he said it will take place at the end of the month because the situation regarding the home venues of Karmiotissa and Krasava ENY Ypsona has not yet been clarified.
Here are his statements in detail
Regarding the developments with the sports judge: “As has already been announced by the Federation, we will now adopt a new operating model for the CFF’s judicial bodies. This is part of an effort to modernize and improve the administration of justice. It should be noted that the system with the Sports Judge has been in place for 12 years, since 2014, and the Federation determined that this cycle should come to a close. For 12 years, the Sports Judge was called upon to make some difficult decisions, and as is always the case in such situations, there are reactions and comments—that is the job of the Sports Judge. We, as a Federation, believe that this institution has functioned to a very satisfactory degree, but we have now reached a point where the cycle has come to an end. When dealing with court rulings and, more generally, decisions that adjudicate certain matters, there are always differing views and opinions. We determined that we must develop this institution, and therefore we are moving forward with a judicial committee consisting of three members and a prosecutorial committee consisting of three disciplinary prosecutorswho will review the match reports, make referrals, and bring those referrals before the judicial committee.”
Who will appoint the members? “The CFF Board of Directors; no names were discussed, the process will take place in the coming period, and at the next Board meeting, the names of the members of the judicial committee as well as the prosecutors will be submitted for approval.”
Regarding whether Mr. Vryonidis and Mr. Nikolaou will remain in their positions: “I repeat, there has been no discussion of specific names; this matter will be clarified at the next Board meeting. I cannot speculate on specific names; they may be among the candidates, but to be honest, I am not in a position to know.”
Regarding the league draw: “The draw hasn’t been finalized yet; it’s just a matter of time—perhaps even later today, or by Monday at the latest—before we have an update. It’s scheduled for the last ten days of July; it will definitely take place in July, but I can’t give an exact date. The reason for the delay was an issue we had with the home venues of certain teams; specifically, KRASAVA ENY and Karmiotissa had designated Tsireio Stadium as their home venue, and the information we received from the Stadium Licensing Authority was that, at this stage, Tsireio. We asked the teams to designate alternative home venues, and as I have been informed, they have done so.”
Regarding the national team and Edwards: “I don’t have any updates; at the moment, I don’t think there’s anything to report. It’s an issue that needs to be resolved as soon as possible so that the coach knows whether to include him in his plans.”
