There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, fifteen individuals were arrested for various offenses, including theft, illegal residence in the Republic, drunkenness, causing a disturbance and disrupting the peace, carrying a knife, illegal possession of drugs, illegal possession of a weapon, traffic offenses, and others.
As part of these operations, 571 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 769 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 47 inspections were carried out at premises to address illegal activities, resulting in five complaints.

During traffic checks that were carried out, 387 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 41 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the complaints filed, 129 involved speeding, and 13 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations. A total of 113 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 15 citations, as well as 2 preliminary drug tests, both of which yielded positive results.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
