AEK: Nikolić’s Solutions for OFI
Fountas was the star of the show for the Cretans, opening the scoring in the 19th minute and finding the back of the net again in the 51st, perfectly converting a penalty awarded via VAR for a handball by Pastor! In the final half-hour of the match, CSKA gained ground on the field and created threats, but Christogeorgos proved he was “there” whenever needed, while the visitors played with one fewer player from the 81st minute onward, when Brahim was sent off for striking Aitor. OFI’s triumph was sealed in the 90’+5′, when Dikman “sealed the deal” with the final 3-0 goal off an assist from Nikolaou!
Thus, OFI is now tasked with… finishing the job in Bulgaria and in Sofia in next week’s second leg (August 27, 9:00 p.m.), while earlier they will host Volos (August 23, 7:30 p.m.) for their Stoiximan Super League opener.
