A historic debut at a neutral venue!
After 25 years, Kalamata returns to the “big leagues” of Greek soccer and hosts Aris in Tripoli (8:00 p.m.) for the first matchday of the Stoiximan Super League.
The “Black Storm” faces a major challenge: to establish itself among the elite of Greek soccer. Kalamata’s first official outing was thoroughly positive, as they convincingly defeated Panetolikos 4-2 in the second qualifying round of the Superbet Greek Cup and advanced to the League Phase.
Panagiotis Christofileas’s team consists of a young and ambitious roster featuring 19 new players and 11 returning players who contributed to the team’s promotion to the Stoiximan Super League.
As for the team’s lineup, Panagiotis Christofileas will not be counting on Sigurdsson, Ginis, Naoumis, Peres, Pinheiro, Fribong, Miranda, Dellis, and Kurminovski for various reasons.
Kalamata’s roster: Gelios, Vasiljevic, Varelas, Rodrigues, Stroungis, Bakayoko, Panagiotou, Gesan, Kaloutsikidis, Ignjatović, Hatzitheodoridis, Alonso, Diarra, Kareaso, Cataldi, Liatsikouras, Bonetto, Hamza, Vargas, Moreira, Bolívar, Mouzakis.
Aris also hopes to get off to a strong start this season. After a disastrous season last year, the Thessaloniki-based team will attempt to take it up a notch this year and get off to a strong start in the new league. The “Yellows,” who will continue with Michalis Grigoriou at the helm, took a conservative approach in the transfer market, aiming to retain their core roster and make quality additions that will turn the tide.
On the field, Michalis Grigoriou has not announced the roster, as the team is traveling to Tripoli with all available players, aiming for a win.
The most likely starting lineups:
Kalamata (Panagiotis Christofileas): Gelios, Kaloutsikidis, Stroungis, Rodrigues, Alonso, Kareaso, Liatsikouras, Hamza, Vargas, Moreira, Bolívar
Aris (Michalis Grigoriou): Dioudis, Fantiga, Fabiano, Petris, Kerkes, Dele Bashiru, Jensen, Gianniotas, Palasios, Bouzaid, Mir
