The almost daily harassment by Attila against Greek Cypriot farmers, in the Dead Zone of Deneia.
Following yesterday’s new tensions in the area, Deneia Community Leader Charalambos Alexandrou stated on the Alpha News program that the same unacceptable incidents recur three to four times a week, with the blue-helmeted forces demanding each time that the Greek Cypriot farmers leave in order to calm tensions.

Mr. Alexandrou explained that in order to cultivate a small plot of land, Greek Cypriot farmers must cross into the Buffer Zone up to 15 times and are forced to bear enormous costs to complete their work. Yesterday, however, the Greek Cypriot farmers refused to leave the area and remained there until they finished their work.
The Community Leader of Denia pointed out that the United Nations is called upon to protect the Greek Cypriot farmers who are determined not to leave the Buffer Zone again.
At a previous meeting between the Denia Community Council and UNFICYP, promises were made to deploy additional forces to the area; however, Mr. Alexandrou pointed out that there is no time for such a move, as winter is approaching and they must tend to their crops.
