The atmosphere ahead of Sunday’s big Clásico has begun to “heat up,” with Fermín López taking a clear stance on the debate that has arisen regarding the refereeing. The 23-year-old Barcelona midfielder addressed the stance taken by Real Madrid and José Mourinho, emphasizing that the Catalans do not want to get drawn into this confrontation.
“We’re not getting involved in the dispute over the referees. They’re happy to fuel it. We’re tired of it,” Fermín said pointedly, indicating that within Barcelona there is a desire to focus exclusively on the competitive aspect of the derby.
The Spanish attacking midfielder continued in the same vein, indirectly referring to Mourinho as well. “His rhetoric about referees and controversies is starting to get tiresome. We’re doing things right, we’re winning, and we’re representing Barcelona’s values. We need to keep moving in this direction,” he emphasized.
Fermin is expected to play a key role in Hansi Flick’s plans for the Clásico, especially following the injury to Dani Olmo, who will be sidelined for about a month. He has now put his own injury behind him, expressing gratitude for the trust the German coach has shown in him.
“The injury is now a thing of the past, and I’m very grateful to Hansi Flick for the trust he’s shown in me,” he said, a few days before a match in which Barcelona aims to further widen its lead over its main rival in the La Liga race.
