Dimitris Giannakopoulos responded via Instagram after the announcement of the decision to remand Vangelis Liolios in custody, posting a story with the phrase “What I said will happen.”
The owner of Panathinaikos BC chose to comment on the latest development in the case that has caused turmoil in the Greek basketball world, using a specific phrase that accompanied his post. The story was published following the decision to place the former president of the Hellenic Basketball Federation in pretrial detention.
The development came on Sunday (10/25), following a lengthy hearing that began at 10:00 a.m. In addition to Vangelis Liolios, Giorgos Mavraghanis was also ordered to be remanded in custody, following the decision by the prosecutor and the investigating judge. This followed the earlier remand of former referee Petros Papapetrou in the same case.
Meanwhile, the preliminary investigation has not yet been completed, as the testimonies of individuals connected to the refereeing community are scheduled to continue on Monday (October 26). Specifically, referee Vasso Tsaroucha, special refereeing advisor Ilias Koromilas, and member of the Central Refereeing Committee, Tasos Piloidis.
