Bad weather on the horizon: Rain, thunderstorms, and hail are coming

When will the new low-pressure system hit?
ALPHANEWSLIVE

A low-pressure system centered over the Aegean Sea is having a mild effect on the region; however, a new low-pressure system is expected to move into the region starting Wednesday. Sparse dust will be suspended in the atmosphere at times.

Tonight, the weather will be partly cloudy and, at times, mostly cloudy with mid-level and high clouds, while light local showers cannot be ruled out. Later, however, there will be increased low-level cloud cover, and locally, light fog or mist may form, mainly inland and in the east. Winds will gradually become downslope, light, at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly choppy. Temperatures will drop to around 17 degrees in inland areas and along the coast, and to around 10 degrees in the higher mountainous regions.

Tomorrow, the weather will be partly cloudy and at times mostly cloudy, while isolated showers are initially expected in the west and north, and isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. Clouds will gradually build up by noon, bringing local showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in northern areas, in the mountains, and possibly in inland and eastern regions. Hail is likely during thunderstorms. Winds will initially be variable, light, 3 Beaufort, gradually shifting to mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough, though it will become slightly rough later in the west. Temperatures will rise to around 27 degrees inland, in the south and east, around 24 in the west and north, and around 18 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

Tomorrow night, the weather will be mostly cloudy, while in the west, the north, and later along the southern coast, isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected. Hail is possible during thunderstorms. Winds will be downslope and temporarily variable, light, at 3 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough in the west and north and calm to slightly rough along the rest of the coast.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms expected at times. Hail is expected during thunderstorms. On Thursday, these conditions may be intense or prolonged in some areas.

On Friday, the weather will be partly cloudy, while isolated showers cannot be ruled out in the mountains after noon.

Temperatures will gradually drop significantly through Friday, falling below the seasonal average.
