With the presentation of the undisputed facts, the trial began on Monday morning the trial of the three defendants accused of the murder of Stavros Demosthenous, which took place on October 17, 2025.
The three defendants—one 31-year-old and two 28-year-olds— appeared this morning before the Limassol Permanent Criminal Court, where the prosecution and defense presented admissible evidence pertaining to 17 witness testimonies.
The proceedings will resume on November 2, and until then, the three defendants will remain in custody at the Central Prison.
They face charges including premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, conspiracy to commit murder, illegal possession, transportation, and use of a firearm, and illegal possession, transportation, and use of explosives.
The 31-year-old is believed to be the driver of the van from which the shots were fired; one 28-year-old is believed to be the person who shot Demosthenes, and the other 28-year-old is believed to be the person who drove the perpetrators away in a car when they abandoned the motorcycle.
It should be noted that charges against three other individuals—two 30-year-olds and one 51-year-old—were suspended in a previous proceeding. One of the 30-year-olds had been charged only with car theft; the vehicle is believed to have been used in the planning of Stavros Dimosthenous’s murder. After he immediately confessed, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
