Real Madrid put an end to Barcelona’s nine-game unbeaten streak in La Liga, securing a crucial 2-1 away win at Camp Nou and cut the gap to three points behind the Blaugrana.
The bad news for the Catalans wasn’t limited to the result, as they saw Xavi Espert leave the field in the first half due to an injury after a hard tackle by Chouameni.
The Barcelona right back underwent tests and was diagnosed with a ligament injury in his right ankle, which will keep him out of action for the next two months.
Flick had been starting Espert recently; the 19-year-old has scored two goals and provided two assists this season in nine appearances across the league and the Champions League.
