The United States has informed several Arab countries in the Persian Gulf that they should be on alert for the possibility of a brief but particularly intense military attack on Iranfollowing the U.S. midterm elections, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal, which cites sources briefed on the relevant discussions.
According to the American newspaper, the U.S. military is deploying a battery of the Patriot air defense system from Texas to bolster its air defense in the region. At the same time, it is withdrawing military personnel from bases considered vulnerable to potential Iranian strikes.
These moves, as the Wall Street Journal points out, are signs that Washington and Israel are preparing for a new round of military clashes with Iran.
When asked about the report, the White House declined to confirm or deny the information, stating that it does not comment on “sensitive military plans that may or may not exist.”
At the same time, it emphasized that “President Trump is keeping all options on the table to ensure that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon.”
According to the report, the preparations are part of a broader military plan by the U.S. and Israel, with potential targets including Iranian nuclear facilities, energy infrastructure, and weapons systems. The aim of a potential new operation would be to limit Tehran’s military capabilities and increase pressure for a return to negotiations.
Donald Trump has not made a final decision on launching new strikes, while diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement are still underway.
