Everton scored three goals against Newcastle and advanced to the Carabao Cup quarterfinals

Next opponent: Fleetwood
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Everton hosted Newcastle, sealed the victory in the first half with a 3-1 win and advanced to the Carabao Cup quarterfinals, where they will face Fleetwood, who, as you may recall, knocked out Arsenal.

The visitors started the match strongly and had a good chance in the 12th minute with a header by Barnes, but Pickford denied him “no”; however, the home team gradually took complete control of the match.

Garner capitalized on a mistake by Dedich, found the back of the net in the 34th minute, and gave Everton the lead. Newcastle tried to respond immediately; five minutes later, Barnes took a shot from inside the box, but saw his attempt go just wide of the left post.

Shortly before the end of the first half, however, Hackney sent the ball into the net with a superb shot, sending his team into the locker room with a 2-0 lead.

In the second half, Newcastle seemed unable to respond, and the Everton players took advantage; in the 69th minute, Dusbury Hall set up Barry, who scored to make it 3-0, sealing not only the victory but also his team’s advancement.

Newcastle pulled one back in the 88th minute with a header by Burn, but it was too late to tie the game, let alone come back.

The results of the fourth round of the Carabao Cup:

Brentford City–Peterborough 2–0

Fleetwood Town–Arsenal 5–3 (pen.) (1–1 a.e.t.)
