The National Emergency Management Center (KSD) immediately activated the Special National Plan “NEARCHOS” and organized a rescue operation, deploying a helicopter from the 460th Air Wing of the National Guard, the patrol vessel “AMMOCHOSTOS” of the National Guard’s Naval Command, the “PENTADAKTYLOS” of the Port and Maritime Police, as well as the passing merchant ship “MSC HANNAH III.”

Under the coordination of the Larnaca Joint Rescue Coordination Center, all survivors were initially safely boarded onto the cargo ship “MSC HANNAH III” and were subsequently picked up by the motorboat “PENTADAKTYLOS” of the Port and Maritime Police, which transported them to the Port of Limassol. After paramedics from the Ambulance Service confirmed that everyone was in good health, the rescued individuals were handed over to the relevant government agencies.

The relevant embassies were also informed of the incident and the handling of the rescued individuals through diplomatic channels, via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
