ALPHANEWSLIVE

The 5th round of the Stoiximan GBL kicks off, with Saturday’s (10/31) schedule featuring five exciting games. Among them, the “battle” in Thessaloniki between Heraklis and PAOK stands out, as does AEK’s challenge in Ioannina.

Vikos Falcons – AEK

The Vikos Falcons are still searching for their first-ever victory in the Stoiximan GBL and are set to play their second home game, hoping to snap their four-game losing streak.

On the other hand, AEK is coming off a loss to PAOK—their second defeat in Thessaloniki and their second overall in the first four rounds—and is looking to bounce back.

Karditsa – Kolossos Rhodes

After two consecutive away losses against Heraklis and Panathinaikos AKTOR, Karditsa returns home, where it went 2-0 in its first two games.

For its part, Kolossos returned to winning ways with a home victory over the Vikos Falcons and improved to 2-2 in the league, while midweek they suffered a loss but put up a competitive fight against the strong Erokspor.

Mykonos Betsson – Doxa Lefkada Elabet

An island

derby in Mykonos, with both teams among the group of four that have a 1-3 record. Mykonos Betsson lost both of its home games against PAOK and Aris, but has shown good form that isn’t reflected in its record, and midweek it secured a major European victory in Riga.

Meanwhile, Doxa Lefkada Elabet is coming off its first win of the season, a victory over Heraklis, which was its fifth overall in the league.

Marousi – Promitheas Patras

Marousi remains winless and shares last place in the standings with the Vikos Falcons. This is the second time in its 18 seasons in the Stoiximan GBL that it has started with a 0-4 record; the only other time was in the 2011-12 season, when it was unable to avoid relegation.

For its part, Promitheas Patras was unable to hold off Olympiacos and suffered a 40-point loss, continuing its poor start to the season with a 1-3 record. Midweek, they faced Split in Croatia but were unable to avoid defeat.

Heraklis – PAOK

The first Thessaloniki derby will take place tomorrow at the Ivanofio. Hercules is 1-3, and all three of its losses came in games where it had led by double-digit margins. They suffered an equally painful loss in Europe, falling to Tartu 101-100 in overtime.

PAOK defended its undefeated record in the league with a victory over AEK, reaching 4-0 for the first time since the 2013-14 season. In the EuroCup, they put up a strong fight in Turkey against the very powerful Bahçeşehir, but were unable to secure the win.
