The police are continuing their investigation into the case involving the consumption of alcoholic beverages at a Halloween party held last Saturday at a beachfront venue in Limassol, and the case file will be forwarded for criminal prosecution of those involved, according to the Assistant Police Director of the Limassol Police Division, Lefteris Kyriakou.
In statements regarding the incident, which resulted in 13 minors, aged 15 to 17, being admitted to the city’s hospital emergency rooms due to alcohol consumption, Mr. Kyriakou said that “several statements have been taken from both the parents and the minors regarding the incident at that specific venue.”
“The event organizer and the business owner are expected to be questioned within the next few hours, and once the investigations are complete, the case file will be forwarded for criminal prosecution of those involved,” he added.
When asked whether it had been determined that there were no age checks at the entrance to the premises, he said that “based on the evidence we have so far, a large number of minors had entered the premises, and it appears that the necessary checks were not carried out.”

He added that, based on witness accounts, it appears the minors consumed alcoholic beverages in violation of the law, resulting in some of them feeling unwell, while others showed signs of fainting and were taken to hospitals, where they received first aid and were subsequently discharged.
He added, moreover, that the parents had been informed that their children would initially go to another location where the Halloween party was to be held, however, “at the last minute, they were told that the venue had changed, and according to the information they received from their children, no alcoholic beverages would be served—only snacks and other drinks”.
The Assistant Police Director of Limassol also said that the time frame during which the party was to take place is the subject of the investigation, “though it appears to have started early,” and when the police were notified around 11 p.m. and arrived at the scene, the venue was already closed.

“Several minors were outside (the venue) and had, right there on the premises, the necessary procedures were carried out, and an investigation into the case began immediately, with the taking of statements and other actions, while a complaint had also been filed that same evening with the property manager,” he added.
Regarding the injury of the 16-year-old, who was taken to Makareio Hospital, Mr. Kyriakou said that “this incident occurred outside the premises as the youths were leaving the nightclub, and the circumstances of his injury are being investigated.” He noted that the teenager is expected to be discharged later today.
When asked whether there are general checks for minors at nightclubs, he stated that “regular checks are conducted, and whenever there is information that minors are present, there are complaints—and there are quite a few such complaints from the Crime Prevention Unit, including out-of-court and other complaints, depending on the circumstances.”,
