U.S. President Donald Trump said today that he had reached an agreement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, under which Washington will stop providing military aid to Israel after the end of this year.
Speaking on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends,” Trump emphasized that Israel no longer needs this aid, adding that some Democrats and left-wing politicians were using this U.S. funding for Israel as a talking point to criticize Republicans.
“As for payments to Israel, Bibi Netanyahu and I have agreed that we’ll give Israel $4 billion a year and then stop. This agreement was reached months ago,” Trump said.
“We have already agreed that, starting at the end of this year, we will no longer make payments to Israel. Of course, we will help Israel if the need arises,” he added.
