More than 53,000 beneficiaries are expected to receive a one-time payment of €200 in their accounts as a measure to combat inflation, as stated by Christos Diomedes, Press Spokesperson for the Welfare Benefits Administration Service, during an appearance on the Alpha News program
According to Mr. Diomedes, the €200 emergency financial aid—which was approved by the Council of Ministers on September 30 as part of measures to combat inflation—is expected to be paid out. The measure covers a total of 53,511 beneficiaries, with the total cost approaching €11 million.
Beneficiaries include:
- Recipients of public assistance.
- People with disabilities who receive a transportation allowance.
- Adults eligible for the Minimum Guaranteed Income (MGI).
- Families receiving the low-income pensioner’s allowance.
- Families with three or more dependent children who receive a child allowance.
As Mr. Diomedes clarified, the assistance is paid once per family and is not multiplied in cases where someone falls into more than one beneficiary category.
Special clarification was provided regarding couples who are low-income pensioners. In cases where both spouses receive the low-pensioner allowance, the €200 is split, with €100 going to each. If only one spouse is eligible, the full amount of €200 will be paid.
Please note that the payment will be made automatically, through the existing social benefit payment systems, to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
