Greece and Cyprus are the countries that grant permits for exploration work on the project involving the power interconnection cable between Crete – Cyprus, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Sunday during his weekly review of the government’s work.
As he noted, “On Friday, the permit for survey and cable-laying work on the Crete–Cyprus (Great Sea Interconnector, GSI), along with the relevant NAVTEX, which are significant steps toward advancing the project’s implementation.”
“Greece and Cyprus are the countries authorizing the survey work for a project that has been designated as being of common European interest and in which French companies are participating. It is important to make it absolutely clear that interconnection projects, such as the GSI, are strategic investments that strengthen energy self-sufficiency, regional cooperation, and stability, contributing to peace and security in the wider region,” the Greek Prime Minister emphasized.
