Strong winds in the Larnaca district caused damage to EAC power poles.

According to a post by the Authority, the gale-force winds caused damage to two pylons of the EAC Transmission Network on the Dekeleia–Larnaca transmission line, 132 kV, in the Kellia area of the Larnaca district.

The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on Sunday; however, despite the damage, there were no power outages, as the EAC notes “an alternative power supply was activated via the Transmission Network and other substations, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of electricity.”

It is estimated that it will take approximately four weeks to fully repair the damage and restore the utility poles to their original condition, the statement adds.

Meanwhile, as emphasized, the EAC continues the necessary work to repair the damage, prioritizing the safety and reliability of the Transmission Grid.
