U.S. President Donald Trump strongly criticized the results of the U.S. midterm elections, arguing that the country had taken “a huge step backward in history,” while linking the election results to the heavy losses recorded on Wall Street.
“America took a huge step backward in history with the results of the latest election,” said the U.S. president, expressing his strong dissatisfaction with the outcome of the election.
In the same post, he linked the result to developments in the financial markets, claiming that Wall Street suffered significant losses.
“Even the stock market, which soared like a rocket during my tenure, recorded losses of $3 trillion in just one day,” he noted.
“We will come back bigger and stronger than ever”
Despite the highly critical tone of his post, Trump attempted to conclude his remarks with a message of optimism about the future of the United States.
“But don’t be afraid. We will come back bigger and stronger than ever!” he said, expressing his confidence that the country will overcome the consequences he attributes to the election results.
