Cyprus is honoring the national anniversary of October 28, 1940, with commemorative ceremonies and parades.
Student parades are currently taking place in cities and communities across Cyprus, while a student parade is being held in front of the Greek Embassy in the presence of the President of the Republic.

The Nicosia parade features representative groups of veterans, students from higher and tertiary educational institutions, secondary school students, Scouts, clubs, and organizations.
Earlier, the President of the Republic attended the festive thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral of St. Barnabas in Nicosia, presided over by Archbishop George of Cyprus.
The thanksgiving service was also attended by the Minister of Education, Sports, and Youth, Athina Michaelidou, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Annita Dimitriou, the Ambassador of Greece, Konstantinos Kollia, as well as members of the political and military leadership.
