For the past 38 years, the “Amerikos Argyriou” Center for Preventive Pediatrics has stood by Cypriot families, offering free preventive checkups to pregnant women and newborns. With more than 815,000 preventive screenings to date, it contributes to the early detection of serious conditions, giving thousands of children the opportunity for a healthier start in life.
Under the slogan “Prevention Saves Lives,” the Friends of the Center Association is once again organizing this year’s annual campaign, “November – Month of Preventive Pediatrics,” a Cyprus-wide information and awareness initiative that combines scientific knowledge, social participation, and charitable activities.
The Center implements three important free screening programs: Prenatal Screening, Newborn Screening, and Newborn Hearing Screening, offering valuable preventive services to pregnant women and newborns throughout Cyprus.
A November full of activities, information, and giving
This year’s campaign kicked off with a successful Culinary Evening, on October 24, at the Old Port Square in Limassol, in collaboration with the Cyprus Chefs’ Association, as well as the Halloween Festival at the Mall of Cyprus, on October 24 and 25, which attracted a large number of families.

At the same time, throughout November, the charity campaign “490 Kilometers for Every Child Born in Cyprus” is underway, an initiative of the ENA Foundation, aiming to raise €60,000 for the expansion of the Center’s Newborn Screening Program. Ultra-distance runner Theodoros Sophocleous will participate in the authentic Pheidippides Challenge from November 19 to 23, 2026, covering 490 kilometers on the Athens–Sparta–Athens route, spreading the message that preventive pediatrics is worth every effort.
