Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that his personal data, as well as that of members of his family, had been made public on the so-called “dark web.”
In a post on “X,” the Italian minister stated that he would not allow anyone to intimidate him, that he would further strengthen relations with allied countries, and that the attack against him was due to Italy’s position on the Ukraine issue.
According to the Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano, pro-Russian hackers “Noname 057(16)” announced two weeks ago that they were ready to pay, online, anyone who could provide them with information concerning the Italian Foreign Minister, the head of the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office, Francesco Lo Voi, and the head of the Italian police unit for cybercrime, Ivan Gabrieli.
The newspaper adds that this was a hybrid attack and that the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an investigation into the matter.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her solidarity with Antonio Tajani and emphasized that “this is a serious matter that must be addressed with the utmost determination.”
