Pope Leo XIV was admitted today to the “Agostino Gemelli” Catholic Polyclinic in Rome, where he will undergo surgery to remove a lung nodule.
According to reports, the surgery may take place today or tomorrow, Wednesday, and the pontiff is expected to remain in the hospital until the end of the week.
The Vatican announced that the Pope’s scheduled meetings through October 20 have been canceled. As he himself said while addressing the faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square last Sunday, this particular nodule was diagnosed at an early stage and its boundaries are particularly clear.
