The UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Cyprus, María Ángela Olguín, expressed optimism ahead of the trilateral meeting to be held next week with the President of the Republic, Nicos Christodoulides, and the Turkish Cypriot leaderTufan Erhurman.
Ms. Olgin, who met with Mr. Erhurman in the occupied territories, stated that it was a preparatory meeting for next week’s trilateral meeting.
The Turkish Cypriot leader made no statements after the meeting, which lasted nearly an hour and a half.
“We discussed many issues,” Ms. Olgin said, adding, “I am optimistic—I hope I’m not the only one on the island who feels this way—but I continue to work. It was a good meeting.”
